The original Secret of Bulgarian Yoghurt

The origin of yoghurt dates back to, as early as 3000BC when Constantinople was the center of all of the great trade routes of the world.  Goods & materials were transported by boats through the Dardanelle’s & the Straights … from Black Sea settlements to the countries on the shores of the Mediterranean .  But even more importantly, goods traveled to countries like Bulgaria by camel.

Camel  drivers would travel north east on long journeys to the  heart of   Bulgaria Sofia   It was here that they would  barter for Rose oil and Thracian furniture … to bring back to the  center of the trading world.    ….

It is said that camel drivers would fill their ‘Bota Bags’ with goat milk prior to their long journey to Sofia .  The hot sun fermented the milk and it became a ‘milk pudding’….  A product that had to be spooned out of the bag.  The ‘custard remnants’ of this fermented milk took on mystical values.  People made all sorts of health claims and the camel drivers made pronouncements of  their improved virility which they attributed to this ‘new-found’ product.  

Over the years , doctors and scientists have identified these “valuable bacteria” in yogurt..   and have described them as … healthful  natural antibiotics.  The human body produces these same good enzyme cultures naturally in the body.
